In fact, instead of trying to work within the formal education framework, these examples show innovative ways of restructuring the typical Western educational system. These examples are exceptions among how sustainability education is implemented worldwide, given some of the challenges we already discussed. Most implementation of sustainability education is rarely interdisciplinary with little if any community involvement, but rather it is an add-on to existing curriculum.
